Painter Keith Wilkie Announces 2-man Show

Gallery West is pleased to present The World Around Us, a two-man show of original oil and acrylic paintings by Northern Virginia artists Keith Wilkie and Richard Ginnett. They have both traveled extensively and this unique exhibit celebrates their perspective on the world around us, capturing scenes familiar to us all, but often overlooked in today’s rush to the next moment of our lives.

Keith Wilkie is known for his seascapes and coastal-related scenes from the Carolinas, Caribbean, Chesapeake Bay and indeed, the world beyond. Keith's paintings capture the quiet, peaceful nature of the world around us, whether it’s the quiet rumble of waves breaking on a beach, silent egrets in a marsh, an exciting day of sailing, or a sidewalk café along the coast. Keith has exhibited work in galleries and museums in New York, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Oregon, Wisconsin, California and the Carolinas. Artist Keith Wilkie Achieves Signature Status, International Society Of Acrylic Painters

Keith Wilkie's "Sunfish Boot Camp" has been selected today for exhibition in the 15th Annual Open International Exhibition by the International Society of Acrylic Painters. Having a painting selected for this exhibition also yields him "Signature" Membership Status, bestowed for life, in the Society. The exhibit will run from July 12 to August 12, 2012 at The Showroom Gallery, 1130 Pine Street, Paso Robles, California. "Sunfish Boot Camp" was most recently on exhibit in Jack Richeson & Co's Gallery through June 8th in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Keith is represented by Gallery West in Alexandria, VA and Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.

Keith Wilkie's 16" x 20" acrylic painting "Crab Claw" was juried into the 4th Annual Open International Society of Acrylic Painters' International On Line Exhibition today. The exhibition juror, Marilyn Hughey Phillis, juror, said: “Painting should be true personal expression. Those entries chosen were of very high caliber ........The many admirable entries from such good artists made this a challenging and interesting task. I think the viewing public will be impressed with the high quality shown." The exhibition will be available on line in the near future at www.isap-online.com. Keith Wilkie's Block Island Surf and Sunfish Bootcamp were both selected as Finalists in the Richeson75 Landscape, Seascape and Architecture competition for 2012. Both were invited to be in their upcoming exhibit April 16-June 8, 2012. His Block Island Beach was selected as a Meritorious Entry. Jack Richeson & Co. is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-quality art materials. Keith was one of only a dozen painters among the 110 artists selected to participate in the 17th annual Frederick (Maryland) Festival of the Arts to be held on June 5th and 6th. His barns, beaches and boats series will be on display with original paintings available for purchase as well as fine art prints and note cards of his most popular work.
